When you think of seasonal home decor, you probably only think of the colder months: pumpkins and harvest-type items for fall, Christmas/holiday items for winter. But you can definitely give your home a summer makeover, no seashells required! Check out some easy ideas below.

Lighten up your curtains

Nothing says summer like a lightweight curtain gently swaying to the breeze. Swap out any heavy, dark curtains for a transparent white curtains and your place will instantly feel like a beach house.

Get some fun cushions

Buying a whole new set of summer furniture is expensive and impractical unless you have a massive storage shed, but you can breathe new life into your existing furniture without breaking the bank just by adding a few new cushions in bright colors and tropical summer prints.

Re-decorate your walls

Swap out some of your photos/wall art or just add some new bright, colorful pieces to create a more seasonally appropriate feel. Maps of tropical places definitely count!

Brighten up your dinnerware

Invest in a set of brightly colored dishes to liven up your kitchen/dining area, or anywhere in the house you eat. This also applies to vases, tea sets, trays, candles, or anything else you could put on a table.

Buy a bouquet of summer flowers

One of the best things about summer is all of the beautiful seasonal blooms, so embrace them in your home! Potted plants also fall into this category. Fake flowers are totally fine if you don’t have much of a green thumb.

Fill up your fruit bowl

Fruits are another great seasonal item that instantly create a summery mood. Make your fruit bowl a focal part of your kitchen and keep it full! If that means you have to buy fake fruit, so be it.

Add some raffia

This is arguably the most summery material. Swap out your regular placemats and coasters for some raffia ones, use wicker baskets for storage, maybe even add a chair or two around the house.

Rethink your knick knacks

Sprinkle some fun, summery knick knacks around your living area for interest. Think figurines of pineapples, coral, flamingoes, seahorses, palm trees, or anything else that makes you think of warm weather.

Repaint your walls/furniture

If you’re feeling up to the task, you can truly make your place feel brand new buy giving your walls and/or furniture a fresh coat of paint in light, summery colors. Whites, yellows, baby blues … anything light and cheerful!
