Today 34 years ago, McDonald's made its 50 billionth hamburger. It is almost impossible to conceive such a number, but one must remeber that it was only 44 years since the company was founded, so it is only logical to assume that this number is probably almost double by now, if not more. The magic of McDonald's is hard to explain but can be attributed in part to its world wide expenssion and the fact that they are able to offer a unique customized menu to every country they open branches in. So if you travel around the world and still find that McDonald's is your food of choice, here are a few items you should try.

Yes, you know it, the people of Hong Kong love their matcha, and when combined with red beans it is even better. For those of you from the area, this dish can taste just like home, and if you are not, it is the perfect way to take part in an authentic experience in a familiar atmosphere.
Canada - Poutine
This one is the most Canadian dished I know, especially during those freezing cold winter months. The warmth and aroma of the fries along with the melted pieces of cheese and gravy just elevate the fries experience to a whole other level. No matter what your go-to McDonald's order is, Poutine is the best way to complete the meal. If you are not yet familiar with it, what are you waiting for?
Philippines - McFlurry with Milo
Just for the holidays, McDonald's Philippines released new toppings for the world-known McFlurry Ice cream. Though the malaysian market was the first to try it, it is no less exciting when another country takes on the idea. The Milo McFlurry adds Milo powder to the already delicious vanilla soft-serve, topped with Milo Cereal balls that add another layer of texture to the whole experience. If this flavour is not for you, you can also try the Orea Matcha flavour or the nostalgic Orea Pieces option.
Russia - Passion Fruit and Cream Cheese Pie
Russia took the original Apple and Chocolate pies and added unique fillings that better matched the taste of their customers. This deep fried pie also comes with a sweet cherry filling. The Passion Fruit option comes in two-pieces, making it the perfect dessert for sharing.
Spain - Ham Croquettes
McDonald's Spain realized that one of the most fun things to do in spain, food-wise, is to go on a tapas tour. Spain is famous for its tapas bars that serve unique and delicious, often byte-size, dishes that allow you to taste many options before getting full. So when it came to offering a specialized McDonald's menu in Spain, they had to include the croquettes, a typical tapas dish. These ones come with a creamy filling and ham pieces.
Italy - Mozzarella McBites
Italians know their cheeses and they know the best ways to use them to produce the best kind of food. Hence it is not surprising that they realized the potential of morsels of mozzarella enclosed in a crispy breading. It can be the side of any dish and enhance any flavored souce. Another cheesy snack you can get is the parmigiano reggiano snack, which is quite literaly a bar of real Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.
