If you had to think of the most celebratory snack that adds festivity and color to every occasion, I'm sure donuts will pop to your mind. The endless options, customized to every holiday, along with the classic flavors, make every bite a delight and every assortment of donuts, instagram worthy. That might be the reason why those treats got two national days dedicated to them. The first and original one is celebrated on the first friday of June, in honor of the Salvation Army members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I. So why a second day? Well, the food holiday historian John Bryan Hopkins claimed that the Novermber 5th date can be found as early as the 1930s as the official donuts day. So which one is it? I guess it doesn't really matter, as long as we get to enjoy them. So in honor of Novermber 5th, the "other" National Donut Day, here are some of the top shops to check out.

A family business who has been passed down for three generations since 1961. The first location has been opened in New Castle, Indiana. Now they have locations all around the United States where you can indulge in the delicious donuts and enjoy the family atmosphere.

With over 30 Years of experience, this is a family owned and operated shop. It became a neighborhood staple in Los Angeles and gained popularity all around. They are also open 24 hours so you can satisfy your cravings at any hour. They have one of the most unique selections of donuts I have ever seen, so get your camera ready as well. If you happen to be in Westport, CT make sure to check out this local donut shop. With positive reviews all around, this is the perfect location for a coffee break with a side of sweetness.
