They say the kitchen is the heart of the home, but the dining room is just as important. It’s where all the kitchen’s hard work gets to be appreciated, special occasions are celebrated, and memories are made. Let’s put it this way: not all your house guests will see your kitchen, but they will most likely see your dining room. In terms of furniture it is fairly simple; all you really need is a table and chairs. However, it’s not a room that should be overlooked.

Invest In A Dining Table Set

A matching set will make any room look more put together. Yes, you can find tables and chairs that look good together but it’s just not the same as a set that was specifically designed to be displayed together.

Choose Your Table Wisely

Also consider what atmosphere you’d like your dining room to have before purchasing the first set that tickles your fancy. Round tables are great for intimate conversations where your guests can all see each other, rectangular tables are best for more formal settings and accommodating a larger amount of guests, and oval tables are a combination of the two. Once you’ve decided this, chair placement should be a breeze.

Let There Be Light

Nothing says classy dinner party like a chandelier! When most people think of chandelier, they think of the large, intricate glass ones you’d find in a European castle. And while there’s nothing wrong with a classic glass chandelier, feel free to be creative and opt for a more modern one to match your aesthetic. There are plenty of interesting options available in different forms and materials: wood, metal, paper … and if chandeliers aren’t your thing, you can always add an elegant standing lamp in one of the corners.

Create Easy Access

Consider adding a buffet if space permits. It’ll make setting the table a lot easier and make the room look more refined. Plus, you can use the surface for additional decor pieces like lamps and vases.

Add Some Interest

A dining room can be so much more than a table and chairs. Spice up the space with interesting artwork and home decor pieces. You can add a floral centerpiece on the table, and/or a small end table in a corner that you can adorn with a vase or another trinket.

Once the dining room of your dreams is set up you just need some killer recipes to impress your friends!
