Certain fabrics just exude luxury and class. Luckily, they don’t always come with a price tag to match! Find out what fabrics you should be looking for the next time you go decor shopping to add a more sophisticated feel to your home.

Velvet

Nothing says decadence like velvet. This lush fabric was once exclusive to the upper class, but today it’s become very easily accessible and affordable. Try adding some velvet cushions to your couch or bed.

Suede

Leather’s soft and understated sibling isn’t just great for clothing. Suede has a great handfeel and subtle yet interesting texture. It’s also the more unexpected choice compared to leather. The material is sturdy but also a bit sensitive and isn’t the easiest thing to clean, so stick to smaller items like cushions or an ottoman rather than an entire couch. But if you’re up for the maintenance - go for it!

Faux Fur

Score aesthetic points without harming animals or your bank account with faux fur. Adding a faux fur rug to your living room will make it look elegant and cozy, especially in front of a fireplace. Maybe also add a cushion or two to your couch to tie the look together. The bedroom is also a great place to add faux fur.

Silk/Satin

In small and correct doses, silk and/or satin can go a very long way. While a full silk bedspread might be a bit extra, little touches of silk add a lovely texture and sheen to any room. Try silk lampshades, cushions, or curtains.

Glass

We don’t mean bulky glass tables or cabinets. Try delicate glass accessories as accent pieces. Create groupings of small glass vases, place beauty products on a glass tray, and/or store kitchen essentials in glass jars.

Marble

The world’s most extravagant palaces always seem to feature marble, so it will be guaranteed to give your home the royal treatment. Real marble comes with a hefty price tag, but it’s easy to find amazing replicas at a fraction of the cost. You may not be able to refloor your bathroom with marble, but you can add vases, trays, bowls, jars, candle holders, end tables, lamps, and bookends to achieve the look.

With these special touches, your home will be looking like a million dollars.
