Patio season is coming! Have you always dreamed of having your own Pinterest-worthy patio space but never gotten around to it? With a little creativity and effort, this can finally be the summer you have your own personal outdoor space to enjoy the long days and warm nights. You don’t even need to have a big yard - just a balcony will do!
Add a dreamy touch (while bringing some brightness) to your patio or balcony with fairy lights. If you have a patio, string them along any covered areas and/or along the edge of your fence. If you have a balcony, use the ledge and the roof. Fairy lights are an excellent, inexpensive addition to your outdoor space that you can also use as indoor holiday decor during the winter!
LED Light Strips
If you prefer a more modern and sleek feel, get some LED light strips instead. They come in every color of the rainbow and are super easy to use - simply peel and stick!
Add extra light at and extra charm during the day by adding a vintage lamp or two (depending on how much space you have). You can fill them with candles, plants, or even knick knacks for an extra quirky feel.
Outdoor spaces come to life with greenery, even if it’s on the 20th floor of an apartment building in a big city. Choose one big potted plant to create a modern statement, or scatter a few smaller plants for a cozier feel.
If you’re limited for space, hanging plants are an excellent alternative for adding greenery. You can either hang them from a roof or other secure cover, or find varieties that you can attach to a wall.
Make your space cozy and fun with some cute throw cushions. They can be patterned or simply bold solid colors, whatever suits your aesthetic.
Separate your outdoor space from the rest of your home (and block out the sun’s harsh rays if needed) by propping a vintage-style room divider against the door, or wherever you’d like to create a distinct divide.
Give your patio European beach vibes with a fun patterned umbrella. It will also come in handy if you’re prone to forgetting to put on sunscreen or you’ve left your sunglasses inside.
Make your outdoor space look amazing from the ground up with a large textured or patterned rug - this also means you’ll be comfortable hanging out barefoot! Best of both worlds.
Don’t just drag out a few spare chairs from the dining or living room - the right furniture will really set the mood. Choose small, low tables made of light materials (like glass or wicker). The chairs and/or sofa should match and be extra comfy, the kind that you just want to sprawl out on.
If you have wall space, install a shelf or two that you can use as a bar. This will save you a lot of time and it will look cool! If you’re not much of a drinker, you can use it to house plants, books, or candles.
